SINGING TOGETHER (Art of Singing for Beginners)
The ancient Greek philosopher Plato once said of music: "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and life to everything."
To satisfy the need of students and parents who love to sing, this class is designed to guide singing-loving beginners to obtain basic singing method and to improve their singing ability via singing together in lively atmosphere:
1. All students will do vocal exercises together to establish good conditions for singing and to aspire toward beauty of tone.
2. All students will learn Chinese and world famous songs together. For each school year, they will learn 8 to 10 songs. Through teacher Tan's analyses and instructions, students will better understand how to approach and interpret a song, as well as acquire some basic singing skills and music theory.
3. In each session teacher Tan will give comments and instructions to one or more students? singing. All students can benefit from such demonstrations, and may begin to grasp that a good singing method could improve their voice as well as musical expressivity.
4. There will be time in class for students to ask questions concerning the art of singing. Through such questions and answers, teacher Tan will explain in simple terms the difficulties of singing.
5. There will be in-class listening of famous singing recordings so that students may improve their music appreciation and musicality.

为了满足爱好歌唱的学生和家长的需求，现开设大家唱学习班，指导初學歌唱者, 使大家在一起学唱歌曲的轻松活泼的气氛中學到歌唱方法，提高歌唱能力：
1， 全体学员一起练声: 建立良好的歌唱状态, 让歌声更美好.
2， 大家唱，全体学员一起学唱著名的中外歌曲，预计一学年学唱8-10首歌。通过谈老师对这些歌曲的分析和演唱要领的指点，让学员们学会如何才能唱好一首歌，同时学到基本的音乐理论 和正确的歌唱方法。
3， 每堂课上谈老师会安排少量时间的Master Class。全体学员通过示范教学可以生动地体会到：正确的歌唱方法会带给您美妙的歌声！
4， 安排时间给学员在课堂上提出有关学习歌唱的种种问题，通过回答这些疑问，谈老师会深入浅出地讲解歌唱艺术的窍门。
5， 在教学中会不定时地穿插歌曲欣赏，以提高音乐欣赏能力和音乐修养。

|
Tai Chi, also called Taichiquan, has its origins in Chinese martial arts. Today people practice Tai Chi for fitness and soothing power through its slow, graceful movements. This class practices the Cheng Man-Ching variation of the Yang style which emphasizes Qi Cultivation. Master Howard Wang teaches the Tai Chi class.

介绍本科程指导，著名男高音歌唱家和音乐教育家: 談柏年 Introduction of the vocal instructor, renowned tenor: Bainian Tan
Bainian Tan is a renowned tenor and vocal educator. He studied vocalism under professor Ailin Dong, a famous mezzo-soprano and the music advisor of Shanghai Philharmonic. His professional career began with Xinjiang Ensemble in 1966. In 1976, he joined Shanghai Philharmonic. As the leading soloist, he performed extensively throughout China. In 1985 and 1986 respectively, he toured Greece and Japan with great success. In 1986, he played the leading role of Prince Paris in the French Opera "La Belle Helena" at the Shanghai Opera House. His voice could be heard in numerous TV and radio programs. He also recorded theme songs for 28 films and televisions, and starred in the film "The Solo Album of Bainian Tan". Arriving in the United States in 1988, Bainian Tan has since undertaken many performances and received honorable recognition. He also has been devoting himself to teaching at his own studio. In 1990 he founded Zhi Yin Vocal Music Center. In 1997 he formed Zhi Yin Singers and has been holding the post of music director and conductor for this chorus. In 2005 he successfully conducted "Yellow River Cantata" which was performed by 150 singers and Nova Vista Symphony. In 2001, together with his son, Michael Tan, a pianist, he recorded a two-CD set, titled "That is Me". This CD set, a collection of forty famous songs and arias from around the world, showcases Bainian Tan?s wide spectrum of vocal styles.
著名男高音歌唱家、聲樂教育家談柏年，是中國享有盛譽的原上海樂團的獨唱演員。他師從著名女中音歌唱家、原上海樂團藝術顧 問董愛琳教授學習聲樂多年。他的職業生涯包括新疆軍區文工團以及上海樂團。在上海樂團的十多年裏他在中國六十多個城市舉行了兩千多場音樂會，特別是一曲"那就是我"把他的名字傳遍大江南北。他也多次參加著名的《上海之春》、《上海國際藝術節》等重要演出。1985 年和1986年他隨上海藝術家代表團赴希臘和日本訪問演出. 1986年他應上海歌劇院的特別邀請在法國歌劇《美麗的海倫》中成功地扮演了男主角帕里斯王子。此外他還經常為電台、電視臺錄制節目, 並為 28部電影、電視劇錄制了主題曲。 1988年他來到美國後一直活躍在舊金山灣區的音樂舞台上。同時他潛心于聲樂教學，培養了許多歌唱人才, 桃李滿天下。1990年他創辦了《知音歌唱藝術中心》。 1997年他組建了知音合唱團並擔任音樂總監和指揮. 知音合唱團在他的帶領下譽滿舊金山灣區. 特別是2005年他成功地指揮了由知音,青青,愛樂等 150人組成的合唱 队和Nova Vista 交響樂團聯合演出的 《黃河大合唱》。 2001年他與其子談晨合作錄制了他的獨唱專輯兩張CD《那就是我》，收錄了歌剧咏叹调等古今中外名曲共40首, 展现了他丰厚的艺术表现力.
